Outstanding New County Official Award

County government benefits from fresh ideas, new perspectives, and leaders who are willing to step forward and make a difference. The Outstanding New County Official Award was established to recognize newly elected or appointed county officials who have demonstrated exceptional leadership, dedication, innovation, and service early in their tenure. This award celebrates those who have quickly embraced the responsibilities of office and are already making a meaningful impact on their county, colleagues, and constituents.

Award Criteria

Nominees for the Outstanding New County Official Award must:

  • Be a current county official and a member in good standing of the Association.
  • Have served no more than four (4) years in the county office they currently hold as of the date of the awards banquet.
  • Demonstrate outstanding leadership, initiative, and commitment to public service.
  • Exhibit professionalism, integrity, and dedication to improving county government operations or services.
  • Have made meaningful contributions to their county, their office, their constituents, or their peers during their time in office.
  • Be nominated by a member of the Association.

Submission Instructions

Nominations may be submitted by any member of the Association using the following form. Each nomination should include:

  • The nominee's name, title, county, and year first elected or appointed to their current office.
  • A brief statement describing why the nominee deserves recognition, including examples of leadership, accomplishments, initiatives, or contributions made during their time in office.
  • Supporting documentation or letters of support may be included but are not required.
  • A high-resolution photo of the nominee is required.

All nominations must be submitted by 4:30 p.m. on September 30, 2026.
