Outstanding Innovation in County Government Award

County government is constantly evolving to meet new challenges, serve residents more effectively, and make the best use of limited resources. The Outstanding Innovation in County Government Award was established to recognize county officials, offices, departments, or teams that have introduced creative solutions, improved processes, embraced new technologies, or developed programs that enhance the delivery of county services. This award celebrates the forward-thinking ideas and practical innovations that strengthen county government and improve outcomes for the communities we serve.

Award Criteria

Nominees for the Outstanding Innovation in County Government Award should demonstrate one or more of the following:

  • Development or implementation of an innovative program, initiative, service, policy, or operational improvement.
  • Use of technology, collaboration, or creative problem-solving to improve efficiency, effectiveness, or service delivery.
  • Measurable impact on county operations, cost savings, customer service, accessibility, transparency, or public engagement.
  • Creation of a model or best practice that may be replicated by other counties or offices.
  • Leadership and commitment to continuous improvement in county government.

Eligible nominees may include individual county officials, county offices, departments, teams, or collaborative initiatives involving multiple county entities.

Submission Instructions

Nominations may be submitted by any member of the Association. Each nomination should include:

  • The name of the individual, office, department, team, or initiative being nominated.
  • A description of the innovation, including the challenge or need it addressed.
  • An explanation of how the innovation was implemented and its impact on county government operations or services.
  • Examples of measurable results, efficiencies gained, cost savings achieved, improvements in service delivery, or other outcomes whenever possible.
  • Supporting documentation, photographs, video messages, or other materials may be included but are not required.

All nominations must be submitted by 4:30 p.m. on September 30, 2026.
